Abiuro

AbiuroOn the surface, Abiuro is simply a personal portfolio of a graphic designer living in Sao Paulo, Brazil. That would be the simple perception. However -- true to his nations' lively aggression -- this body of work reflects a very bold and colorful panoply of print works. We really liked the multiple large portfolio images, which really bring out the quality of the design... quality which would compete at the highest level with the graphic design from any country or firm.... Cappen

CappenCappen launches a cute new site for their online advertising agency—and just to be straight, when we say 'cute', we really mean 'nicely refined, solid and innovative IA, driven by a little flying bird mascot'-level of cute. It's just a different and friendly way to construct a portfolio that many "cooler" designers would not be able to pull off in such an approachable manner. And since Cappen caters to a number of multimedia fields, from online ads to e-mail marketing, it's absolutely correct to engage the largest audience possible by cultivating such a friendly atmosphere.... Cisma

CismaCisma bridges the gap between fine art and commerce with a refreshing emphasis on the former. Their concise web site employs an elegant and nearly impenetrable font. And we wish they'd lend us that giant Hammer & Tongs-ish stuffed tooth that adorns their site's illustration gallery -- that thing is freakin' cute.... More

Dado Queiroz

Dado QueirozOne of the strongest typographic portfolios we've seen in a while, Dado gives us a nice pastel-hued wrapper with a sort of "scotch-taped-together" graphic accent that really works well for this boxy format. But beyond the online packaging, it's really all about the typefaces, flourishes & ornaments for this type afficianado who states at one point, "I like type so bad that I use it even when there's no text to be written". Now that's deep... but not nearly as deep as the brilliant print, poster and editorial work found in this simple, three page site. Fantastico.... More

Grafikonstruct

GrafikonstructOne of the premiere web design firms and Flash developers in Brazil—Grafikonstruct specializes in the design of Flash-powered sites for the fashion industry and other purveryors of style. These are the guys to go to if you want to engage your audience with sophisticaed graphics and interactive sites... Our only critique was the awkwardness of their site—in the quest to make an uber-Flashy showcase, they lost sight of usability and the power of basic copy. In the end, the work speaks for itself, and until they redesign, the latest projects are one click away on the homepage.... More

Hungry for Design

Hungry for DesignIts list of clients is impressive: American Movie Classics, Anime Network, Country Music Television, HBO, Fine Living, MTV and VH1. But the site’s design is a bit choppy for our tastes. Obviously, the talent is worth a look and you won't know what you think unless you check it out. Ergo -- we recommend a visit.... More

misprinted type

misprinted typeThe scratchy, dirty, hand-made portfolio of Eduardo Recife has been online since back in 1998, and this latest 3rd incarnation is just as rough and ecclectic as before. Spanning the spectrum from print to art, fonts, collage and mixed media, you can't help but being struck by the gentle, cherubic beauty behind the deceptively haphazard compositions. It's also one of the few portfolios where you don't want to miss the photography area... and lest we forget, there's also 19 free fonts to download. Brilliantly original, from end-to-end.... More

MOOZConsisting of 3 Brazilian desigers, MOOZ is a small design and illustration studio founded in 2005 and based in Recife, Brazil. Designing mostly for clients involved in music and other creative endeavors, such as the Coquetel Molotov collective, MOOZ members always work as a team and enjoy having guest illustrators, including David Edmundson and Rti9, pitch in collaboratively. Fonts, identity, and edgy magazine editorial design also number among MOOZ's passions.... More

Mopa Studio

Mopa StudioA brand new illustration and graphic design studio from Brasilia, Brazil, Mopa has a great flair for color, illustration, print and graphic design. We're especially big fans of collage work right now, and taking that concept one step further... we really feel like the collective work of the artists in this studio – working on everything from t-shirts to posters, cd sleeves and magazines – has some very powerful potential. We really loved their improvement on the single page scroller that doesn't use frames—only nice, valid HTML and CSS.... More

Renan Molin

Renan Molin | DMolinMusic packaging, print, logos or web sites, this young Brazilian designer has a short but solid list of complete projects at only 21 years of age. We liked the full-on style portfolio with huge project shots and a very clear listing of categories... even if you don't read Portugese, this visually driven site is self-explanatory, and quite enjoyable to surf.... Ricardo Landim

Ricardo LandimBrazilian designers have all the fun, it seems! Not only do they live in a vibrant and passionate country, but they get to translate that colorful love into their design projects. Ricardo is no exception... he is the rule. Working across many mini and "hot-sites", games and Flash sites, Mr. Landim creates immersive experience designs that always have a rich, vibrant, conceptual edge. Plus, his portfolio is so completely thorough, you never even need leave to view the actual sites.... More

Rubens

RubensWith a simple stroke and a minimalist style, Rubens from Brazil demonstrates great technique in his drawings... But his art is more than just technique. In his simple, no-words site, each brand and subject he tackles with his pen relays an interesting message - from depicting a drunk Jesus, to a consumer with an Adidas "habit" - which often makes you look twice. Rubens is a talented illustrator with a twinkle in his eye, a slight smirk, and a double-edged pen.... More
