ESPN TV

ESPN TV When the Internet arrived, and TV stations started fumbling to put content on websites, for a moment there, it almost seemed like they forgot they already owned the second-most engaging medium around (film being the first). So it's about time one station understands that if I'm going to visit the web site of a TV channel, its pretty much essential for me to quickly be able to find out what's going to be coming next on the TV! This ESPN TV site was developed to roll all ESPN promotional TV sites under a consistent platform... and with 9 different channels, sport fanatics have been thirsting for a slick little site to quickly find out what is coming up on TV in the next 24 hours and beyond. Plus, with a strong navigation and flawless UI, all your favorite sports shows are rarely more than 2-3 clicks away. But that's not... More

M!nd

M!ndUsing the tagline, "Cultural ammunition for better business", M!nd is an experimental news filtering tool and idea refueling station created by a branding company called Modernista!. M!nd provides the ammunition they need to help draw out emerging patterns from events occuring around the world. It acts as a type of news filter coupled with cultural introspection that helps digest the overflow of information individuals are bombarded with on a daily basis. Literally M!nd is what Modernista! uses along with their clients to help them "mind" their business by making sense of the world around them. It's a fascinating application, and since anyone can use it, you may find yourself returning to it on more than one occasion (even though it seems like updates have mostly stopped since 2003). The M!nd has no limits. Since this posting, we discovered M!nd was actually the very first incarnation of the Modernista! website. And... More

D&G Time

D&G Time The new D&G Time web site for watches features a truly advanced navigaton concept, beautiful design and original sound. Designed and developed by Koinema, the site operates like clockwork precision, allowing you to either narrow down these luxury wrist watches by color, type and styling, or simply spin the wheel and let D&G pick a random watch for you to view. Built entirely in Flash, the circular navigation is actually a powerful sorting device... yet unlike a straight database list, it is more like a Rolodex (not a Rolex) of watches that is fun to use and explore.... Home Corp

Home CorpThis is a showcase and portfolio site for Home Corp, a video production company based in the UK and USA. If you've come to this address, you've come to do one thing - to view the commercial reels of the Directors who use this site as a virtual video portfolio. This new website has been designed and developed by Pink Pigeon (a DVD design company that also develops Flash web designs). But getting back to the site... It's very bold, and simple, using large chunky type that is very clickable. Some very subtle nuances that we love: especially click the "fade-to-black" option while viewing a reel. Very well thought out in all aspects.... More

Palass

palassA French record label with an interesting '9-Quadrant' design... It's edgy and distressed, yet clean, with lots of open white space... Palass uses a Flash-derived navigation to scroll beyond your browser screen edges and expose parts of a larger page design. And each quadrant contains a different 'magazine' style navigation with flippaple pages that contain the news, a scratchbook, videos and more. The artists inside include Emir Kusturica, Liquid Architecture and Arielle Dombasle. A hip, yet ultimately, nicely structured home for a variety of lables.... More

Porter Teleo

Porter TeleoHummingbirds, asymmetrical berries and mathematical rain are just a few of designs you'll find in this beautiful site for a custom wallpaper design studio. Why frame your art when you can have it as a repeating pattern all over your walls? Porter Teleo puts the art back into wallpaper by using very minimal concepts - a type of Japanese sensibility - and abstract shapes incorporated into harmonious color schemes. And the site, designed by Shawn Sanem Art & Design, brings out all the beauty of the art inside by allowing it to take center stage. It's a perfect harmony of art, product and online visibility vehicle.... More

Pile Driver

No one is better at misappropriating American words than the Japanese. Pile Driver is no exception, for we certainly get an example of their 'crushing attitude' from the many photos of kittens on their "about us" page. Entirely written in Japanese, Pile is actually a photographer agency site with an exclusive list of Japanese clients, who by the way, are mostly proficient at stills and product shots. Besides the name itself, we also really liked the delicate touch exhibited in the navigation. Not too much scary or intimidating here... just pure elegance personified in the smooth web pages of the Pile Driver company.... More

éS Footwear

We love this independent skateboarding sneaker company for spiking a flag down in a hugely competetive market with 800 pound gorillas lurking around. But we also love this site because it feels like a Flash site, but actually, it's a very cleanly constructed design with pure CSS standards that makes it super quick and also super accessible. Overall, the design of this site rules, product-wise and standards-wise. It's a great online vehicle... which in this case is not a compressed plywood board with urethane wheels, but is just as speedy.... More
